Photogrammetry & Mapping
Specialising in operating Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) for photogrammetry and Mapping
In 2024, 3dMB Ltd moved from diver based data capture to Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) based data capture. This has meant that we can mount a large array of sensing technology, in addition to just cameras, to capture data more efficiently without the dive team requirements as specified within the Diving at Work Regulations 1997.
Removing the diver and replacing with a ROV removes the associated risk to the data capture operators, we can work more efficiently with a small team and are not limited by decompression obligation or breathing gas supply.
Starting in 2017, Marcus has spent many hours underwater learning and honing the skills required to create 3d digital copies of objects, artefacts and areas found submerged in our lakes and oceans. Using the photogrammetry process, Marcus has created digital 3d copies of underwater sites around UK waters, Mediterranean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
Marcus’ experience has lead him to be a pivotal member of a number of ongoing underwater photogrammetry projects as well as teaching photogrammetry to over 200 people.
Remote Underwater Videography
Our ROVs can mount a selection of housed professional cameras from Action & 360 cameras to Mirrorless to Cine-cameras. Full electronic integration can be achieved between camera and ROV giving the topside operators full manual camera and focus control*. Unaffected by decompression obligations, ascent rates, breathing gas supplies and unwanted diver movements, the ROV with a full 6 degrees-of-freedom, offers a stable platform that can move the camera in any direction at varying speeds, producing smooth cinematic video sequences that would be impossible, or too dangerous, for a diver to capture.
